Our History
In 1990, five friends with established careers in public affairs founded our firm with offices in Portland, Seattle, Spokane and Boise. In 2020, we celebrated 30 years as a bipartisan, employee-owned small business. Our founders chose the name Gallatin after American public servant Albert Gallatin who, among many achievements in his life, was a member of the U.S. House and Senate and helped make the Lewis & Clark Expedition a reality. Today, there is a river, county and National Forest in Montana all named his honor. You can learn more about Gallatin here.
Over the years, we’ve changed along with the economy and politics of the Pacific Northwest. We’ve celebrated, as friends and colleagues have graduated to positions of leadership with other businesses and organizations. We’ve mourned, bidding farewell to distinguished leaders Cecil Andrus, Vera Katz, Chris Carlson, John Etchart and Bob Royer – each who shared their wisdom with our clients and with us.
Whether we’re behind the scenes or out-front, we owe our longevity and success to our quality people and valued clients. Thank you.
