With more than fifteen years experience in government affairs, strategic communications and public policy, Emily Baker brings to the firm a keen understanding of politics and policy.
Baker spent over a decade between Washington, DC and New York. She was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as the administrator for the General Services Administration’s (GSA) Northeast and Caribbean region. She managed a $1.9B annual budget, major federal construction projects and large government procurements. In taking on that role Baker became one of the youngest people ever appointed to the U.S. government’s Senior Executive Service. Baker also served as Deputy Director of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs with the U.S. Department of Commerce focusing on international trade and intellectual property.
On the political front, Baker has on-the-ground experience in national and state-wide campaigns and has traveled extensively as an international advance representative in the Middle East for the White House and Department of Commerce.
Baker began her career in Idaho politics, working as a policy aide to former Governor Phil Batt, Lt. Governor Butch Otter, State Treasurer Ron Crane and the Idaho Republican Party.
Baker serves on the Boise State Foundation Board of Directors, the Boise Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Advisory Board for the U.S. Green Building Council, Idaho Chapter. She and her husband, Mike, live in Boise with their three boys.
“I believe in the power of understanding, in helping people and businesses tell their story and create awareness. At the very core is taking a complex matter and gaining a command of the issues and environments to craft a successful solution. Working to build and deploy that solution and bring about the change a client needs is incredibly rewarding.”
