Of Counsel, Idaho
For more than 40 years Ben Ysursa has been inside Idaho’s state government. In more than three decades as deputy Secretary of State and a dozen more years as Secretary of State, Ben earned a sterling reputation for his fair administration of elections, his management of Idaho’s sunshine law and his professional handling of Idaho corporate registrations. He won three state wide elections, garnering nearly three-quarters of the vote each time.
As a member of the Land Board, Ben has been on the management front lines for Idaho’s 2.4 million acres of trust land, as well as the regulatory functions of the Department of Lands. Well known and respected in every corner of Idaho, Ben has worked with hundreds of county, city and taxing districts officials.
A graduate of Gonzaga University and St. Louis University School of Law, Ben has been honored for his commitment to civic engagement and open government by the City Club of Boise. The Idaho Republican Party and the Association of Idaho Cities have also recognized Ben for outstanding public service. The 4th District Bar Association awarded Ben the Liberty Bell Award for his impartial and fair handling of Idaho elections.
Ben is a proud member of Basque Foundation Inc. and fans of Bishop Kelly High School know him as the long-time radio color commentator for Knights’ football games. In addition to his ‘of counsel’ role with Gallatin, Ben spends time with wife Penny, three children and two grandchildren.
“As I prepared to leave the office of the Secretary of State, I looked for ways to continue serving businesses and communities across Idaho. Gallatin has always been an organization that I have respected and admired for its level of commitment to its clients, our state and the northwest region. I am looking forward to being a part of this outstanding team and continuing the efforts of bi-partisanship and common sense problem solving.”
